I taught myself how to make necklaces out of beads and wire with a crochet hook. I think my latest venue turned out pretty well. With practice, I can make these even better.
All in all, the month has been very slow. I needed to be making more things, but work got busy and there was a trip to San Diego and Cleveland all in one week that took me longer than I thought to recover from.
My first Showcase on Etsy is Monday. I feel totally unprepared. I think I’ll be able to get at least one – maybe two necklaces done tomorrow if I try. And all the photos are sized to post the 4 necklaces that I already have done up. I was really hoping to make some earrings too, but I think I’m going to run out of time. If nothing else I am looking forward to learning something more about how to sell on Etsy.
More than anything, I’d love for a day to just bang on some metal. It sure would clear my head. I picked up a steel dapping block and punch set at Harbor Freight today for $30. The also had a 1/8 inch letter stamping set which I bought too. So, these will start other new dimensions as soon as I can get my hands dirty a bit with them.
Last, is that one of my teachers from the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Maryellen Hains some of her work is here sent me a postcard in the mail asking that my oboe inspired piece be part of the student section of her website. I believe I am making progress even though it has been a slow month. This is a good sign of it! Here’s the oboe inspired piece. Let me know what you think. I’ll post the inspiration piece that was part of the class challenge behind this necklace.
